#15: Scynavoid Plasma Autocannon (2011)

Base: Buzz Bee Tommy 20

This was a really fun one, mostly because I’d never worked with an automatic gun before since I try very hard to never spend more than 20 dollars on each gun. Luckily, this gun was on sale because it was ‘broken’, so I got it for 10. THE FOOLS!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

The gun belongs to a race called the Scynavoid, a picture of which can be found in my gallery. It's a very sci-fi gun, which is new-ish for me, but I'm satisfied with how it turned out!

Features:
- Fully automatic firing
- A 20-dart capacity
- 4 Backup Dart Holders in the top stock
- 30 Feet of Range
- The thing is massive… over 3 feet in length
- Opening front section for easy loading
- A metallic paint job utilizing many paints both spray and acrylic

EDIT: New "Archive Reborn" photo added May 07, 2013.

This might be the greatest compliment I've ever received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The custom work on this (barrel, stock) is fantastic. What materials did you use for them?

For the stock: Top is a Buzzbee Hunter's stock with some additions, bottom is the pump handle off of a Super Soaker Rattler.

FOr the Barrel: Was a plastic cupholder, a piece of plumbing pipe, a trailer whistle, and a leveling bar... got 'em all at Walmart for a couple of bucks.

Thanks for replying. I'm just getting started with Nerf modding for cosplay props, so I'm always on the look-out for how other people are doing it.

I hope you were able to take advantage of the remains of the Rattler. It would be unfortunate to sacrifice a $25 piece to add the finishing touch to a $20 piece.

The barrel is just awesome. Great work, that.

Well, firstly, I almost never buy anything retail. I got the Rattler for $11 at a Job Lot. Second, the rest of the Rattler (or, most of the rest) became the stock portion of my Archon rifle- you can find two versions of it in my gallery (the original Steamed-out version and the gritty cyberdiesel repaint). And lastly, it's hardly a sacrifice at the point that people will pay me far more for the final product than I spent for the parts... plus, I get to make the art the way I want to. Not to say I haven't given up parts before... I've botched a good few Recons in my day just to take off a handle or a slide, I'll tell yeh.

If this is not a steampunk gun then drop the 'steampunk' tag and replace it with a 'crazy awesome gun' tag. This is insanely cool work you're doing here.

I actually marked this as 'sci-fi', myself. The major reason I label things as steampunk is so they're eaasier to find, since I know how I search things and I've never, ever searched "Sci-fi". I may take the tag off now that people are finding this thing with fair frequency.

dun get me wrong i love your guns,
but i've seen them all now, and NONE of them fit the steampunk tag :) theyre mostly futuristic or dystopian.

Wait wait wait, what about the Steam Revenant, Steam Draug, and Minuscule? This are totally steampunk... albeit I'll admit my work generally seems to fall into the Decopunk category, but I asked on the Steampunk Empire and was told it still counts. :p But again, the tag is there 50 or 60% to give people a better chance of finding it.

Well, see, I AM American, so I'm a little lax with it all. I also was not aware that "Dystopian" was it's own category... always thought that fell into the Deisel-punk category, or as an addition to something else with a punk in it. Sorta cool that it's its own thing.

diesel dystopian is just one of several dystopian styles :)
there is cyber dystopian(matrix), science dystopian (alien), ww dystopian(what if ww1/2 never ended), etc.
