The Persistent Paradigm (Completed!)

The 2247 PP-1 Propulsive Projectile Hand-Cannon can only fire one shot at a time before needing reloading. However, the balance, craftsmanship, ease of use, durability, cost-effectiveness, and sheer stopping power of the weapon, which fires ammunition akin to small explosive rockets, has kept it in circulation and use in Camerexicora (formerly North America) through 30 years, 6 Presiding Elects, 2 world wars, 1 would-be nuclear apocalypse, and the introduction of dozens of competing side-arms that simply never caught on. Now as ubiquitous as it is anomalous, people have taken to lovingly calling the gun "The Persistent Paradigm".

Inspired by the games Destiny and Destiny 2 (a source I haven't strip-mined for aesthetic cues just yet) and specifically by the regal sci-fi anachronism" of the Gjallarhorn, the impetus for this project was the finding of a Magic Skeet Shooting Shotgun, also known as a "Rec Tek Blaster". Ergonomic it ain't, but for a single shot blaster she packed a wallop. I swapped the handle, added extra details to the silhouette, accented the very simple planar forms, sculpted it clean, and painted her up. The result is this beauty, which might be my favorite sidearm to date. And I completed it- start to finish- in under 4 days. Amazing what a little inspiration can do!
